The Seville Orange season is very short. Like a lot of much loved produce this is something that is not grown in the UK so we rely on exports from Spain for this. January simply is not the same without this really quite unusual fruit. Incredible that someone had the foresight to come up with the idea of boiling this fruit and pith with sugar to make such a delicious preserve.

However the start of the Seville Orange season in the UK marks the launch of our annual marmalade competition. This is something we always look forward to and love the engagement with our local community. You can find out all the details on this here.
If you don’t make marmalade you could always try making Seville Orange Curd. We love the recipe by Felicity Cloake for the Guardian. Scroll down for details.
